Diligence is universally recognized as a virtue. There are numerous references to its advantages in the Bible, and great people talk about the importance of diligence to achieve success in every area of life.
But what does it mean to be diligent?
The easiest way to describe diligence would be to say that it is the opposite of laziness or negligence. The dictionary says that a diligent person is one who does things with painstaking and careful attention and effort. A diligent person is attentive to detail and will quietly, steadily, persevere.
Synonyms for “diligent” include assidus, persevering, attentive, and industrious.
A diligent wrestler will seek to improve himself every chance he gets, and will look for every possible way to do so. A great example of a diligent wrestler would be Dan Gable, who would be “working at every tick of the clock” to be a better wrestler. Even when he wasn’t actually on the mat wrestling, he would be thinking about how to get better and doing things that helped his wrestling in some way.
He was diligent in doing everything he could possibly do to get better.
Diligence has a lot to do with simply devoting time and effort to something. Is there something you’d like to improve in? Maybe it’s wrestling maybe it’s something else. The way to do it is through diligence. Good things don’t happen to people by accident, they happen by diligence ? careful, steady, attentive, persevering dedication to accomplishing the task at hand as best as it can be done. Diligence is always asking yourself, “What can I be doing right now to get better?” The answer doesn’t have to be anything physical ╥t can be something mental, psychological, or spiritual. Every detail counts, and a diligent person will overlook nothing.

I have some difficulty in learning English. For example, I can't tell the difference between written English and spoken English. Sometimes I often make mistakes while speaking to others.
Talking about English study,I think practice is necessary and important.
For the improvement of English,we should practice as much as possible.Before classes,we must preview the lesson by repeating after the tapes and look up the new words in the dictionaries.When in class,we ought to try all our best to answer the teachers' questions.And it's very useful to keep the texts in mind. Listening to english news also does good to our english.expecially in improving my spoken English.
